FAT

A Fat liberation Gallery Show

FAT was a liberation-focused gallery show held in May 2025, featuring works by over 20 artists from across the nation and around the world. Celebrating the bodies, minds, and voices of fat individuals, the exhibition confronted the racist, sexist, and homophobic roots of fatphobia while challenging the resurgence of diet culture. Embracing fatness as beauty, power, and life itself, FAT fostered safety, pride, and collective empowerment through art and community, highlighted by several community events over the month—building visibility, solidarity, and connection within Seattle’s fat community. The show was supported by The Fishbowl Gallery and the Seattle Department of Neighborhoods, with community partners including Fat Con, Belltown Art Walk, Uptown Art Walk, and Positive Spin.
